Forties Child

Freezing slides on sheets of ice
Balaclavsa snug;
Finger mitts,snow-balling bold,
Playtime in the cold.
Satchels,desks with lift-up lids,
Pen nibs and inkwells;
Five-stones,conkers in the yard,
Before the lesson bell

Congratulations Brian on "Forties Child" being featured. In spite of the times being financially and medically (polio scare) worse, I still believe they were better days (family, community, spiritually, the important things). Vince
