Forsaken Flower

I’m lost in a field of forsaken flowers, counting crestfallen stars… and as the lavender moon ascends to rinse away cold kohl tears~ I call your name in soft cadence, pondering, will you ever hear me?

Dear sweet Inky, this is such a truly beautiful and equally profound verse. Your imagery, as always, is breathtaking as the reader is transported to a forlorn field of forgotten flowers as the wandering soul is also forlorn and feeling lost and abandoned. You capture the anguish of longing so well and the reflectiveness of wondering if your voice, echoes of your heart, will be heard by the recipient for whom you call out to. A very touching read dear one. Loved it. Hugs to you xx

"...if all flowers wanted to be roses, nature would lose her springtime beauty, & the fields would no longer be decked out with little wild flowers. & so it is in the world of souls, Jesus’ garden. He willed to create great souls comparable to lilies & roses, but He has created smaller ones & these must be content to be daisies or violets destined to give joy to God’s glances when He looks down at His feet. Perfection consists in doing His will, in being what He wills us to be." ~St. Therese :-)

IE, you capture a very sad feeling, which I can remember as a young man in regards to feeling attraction that went one way. This could also relate to a tragic or other loss of life and wanting to say something when the opportunity is gone. Part of grief.

You will count stars with a confident gaze in a field of forsaken flowers. As the lavender moon rises, calling your name with determination, you will be ready to face whatever life throws. You will never be a forsaken flower, dear Inky. Great poem, is it for a contest? ...Hugs

dearest Ink--I thought I was with you as you journeyed through the field of forsaken flowers (great metaphor by the way). I felt the strong emotion of wanting the be heard...we all long for that in varying degrees at different times and stages of our life. It's a hollow and sad feeling filled with cold tears. Am faving this one....great to read one of your creations again. :-) hugs, Sara

Dear Ink Empress, Your poem, captivates with its striking words and emotional depth. The metaphor of being lost in a field of forsaken flowers, amidst crestfallen stars and a lavender moon, evokes a sense of melancholy and longing. The gentle cadence of your words, infused with the softness of kohl tears, speaks volumes about the desires for connection and understanding. It’s a reflection of the human experience, reaching out into the vastness of the universe, questioning whether our calls will ever be heard. Your poetic voice is heard with a delicate beauty that touches the heart and stirs the soul. Through your words, you envelope emotion and introspection, inviting me the reader to journey alongside you through the landscape of longing and hope. Your voice is a beacon of light in the darkness, illuminating the beauty and complexity of the human spirit. - Blessings, Daniel

We have all be lost in a field of forsaken flowers... some stay around the pungent stench, whilst others remove them and plant new seeds of colourful flowers, ready for spring.... There is a haunting touch to your poem, where you are calling someone and wondering if they will reply ... sometimes there is only silence.. Best of luck in the contest dear..

Exquisite beauty. Are you calling for your mom? Someone else no longer here? It's when we're at our lowest that we feel the need to reach out. Of course, this could also be a prayerful plea to the Creator. David etal made similar expressions in their Psalms. This little heartfelt gem is a new fave for Woody
