Forgotten Hero
I got on the bus
And sat on the front seat.
With bifocals,
The man sitting next to me
Greeted me with a Smile
And said, “Good Morning”.
On the way,
Sitting by the window
And being bewitched by
the black moon's shadow
His words ‘stunned my soul.
“An executive of the state
Demanded me a letter from the camp
"If I need the pension"
"If I need the pension."
His words broke my heart
For me, no more vision
A great dedication
In the mission,
But not the passion or fashion
Though only a call from his office
To bring a letter
“He enjoys my traveling
Far away from the city.
“I wish I could see your face,
But I am so sorry,
My world is black”.
I got off the bus,
But the thoughts of mine
Blow like a wind.
Men have no gratitude
To a man of yesterday.
For me, that great soldier
Is a Man of everyday.
