Forgiveness

Took me by surprise
friendship meant nothing to you
built trust then betrayed

sorrow and anger
bedfellows that give no sleep
open wound is raw

pardon is my salve
as the Lord does unto me
mercy I must show

not weakness but strength
rise above in faith and love
healing my reward
