Sponsored by: Robert James Liguori
*PLACED* 8th

Listen to poem:
After fates are sealed And the wounds To scars now healed After our ears are assaulted And the barrage of abuse Is halted After tears stop flowing And the fear of what is known Becomes a memory of knowing After the smash and grab And the theft of innocence The slamming door of the yellow cab After all that follows after And the 'and' past the 'and' Beyond all the disaster Lies the uneasy truth.. so clear Of forgiveness The future's only panacea Yet my new enemy is nearby Resistance lurking in my mind For my new enemy is now; I

“ For my new enemy is now I” this hits strong! What a profound ending. We give others so much, forgiveness, time, patience, kindness, but sometimes we forget that we deserve to give ourselves what we selflessly give others, Such as forgiveness.. we are often our own enemy, so well said and the flow of this whole poem is brilliant, very profound and soulful! Pleasure reading this, congratulations on your well deserved win.

Not always easy to do Sam but harboring grudges can consume us. Unforgiving is a heavy burden to carry on our shoulders. Tom

what a powerful poem, Sam! I appreciated the imagery and the allusions to recent smash and grabs and the slamming of the door of the yellow cab...such emotions ran deep in your words. I agree with your last line...therein lies the hard reality and truth. Have a splendid evening, Sara

"You are such an encourager, Sara, thank you for your kind words. Forgiveness is never easy to complete, but we must find a way so we do not harm ourselves in the long-run. I pray we all find as much forgiveness as we need. Blessings this Christmas x"
