Forgiveness

Betrayal, like a vice,
 Paralyzes 
Abuse leaves unseen marks
 In open scars
Surprise personal attacks
 Leave the soul sputtering
Deception’s whirlwinds
 Spin dizzy unbalance
Lies’ masks of deceit
 Destroy loyalty
Ridicule slashes love
 Lacerating trust
Arrogance breeds anger
 Shredding humble conversation

Hard won forgiveness
 Releases the soul
Letting God
 Heal with balm
Past the portal
 Of understanding
Letting God
 Met out the consequence
Understanding we too
 Receive forgiveness

"Hard won forgiveness Releases the soul Letting God Heal with balm Past the portal" These words, yes. Memories being the portal that bring us back to moments of pain. Our Father, anointing the wounds with His healing balm, He can heal and set us free when we do what He shows us to do, to forgive! Oh how very precious this poem! Congratulations on your win, this truly is a winner! I love it.
