Forgiveness

https://allpoetry.com/contest/2733311-Forgiveness

Forging a friendship
Hammering out the brass
Harboring anger toward man
Mixing a chameleon's faces
Living a life of anger.

Proffering a hand of friendship
Writing off all debts
Serving man today
Smiling eyes in the clouds
Sculpting bridges between men.

Smiling and shaking hands
Mending is the key
Serving and building bridges
Mending broken paths
My life as a soldier.

"mending broken paths"--I'm realizing reading this that forgiveness is our duty and perhaps our life's work... Bravo! Welcome to PoetrySoup :)

That is exactly the message I was trying to convey. Jesus taught us that the extent to which we forgive others is the same extent to which we can expect to be forgiven. This was a powerful message for me to wrap my head (and my heart) around. I want God's forgiveness, but getting it means I have to be just as willing to forgive as He is. Wow!
