Forgiven and Forgotten

FORGIVEN AND FORGOTTEN

Forgiven and forgotten--all my sin and all its shame;
It happened in that moment I called on Jesus’ name.
Forgiven and forgotten by God’s great grace Divine,
And now a new, clean record has finally become mine.
Forgiven and forgotten, though it’s not done by me;
I may still oft remember, but He forgot through Calvary.
Forgiven and forgotten by others might not be,
But God forgave, forgot them; that’s good enough for me!
Forgiven and forgotten--yes, it is true, I know,
The blood of Jesus shed there has made it ever so.
Forgiven and forgotten each time that I confess
When I would slip and stumble beneath the load and stress.
Forgiven and forgotten--oh, how I praise His name,
For when I stand before Him those sins won’t bring me shame!
Forgiven and forgotten, and some day I will, too,
Forget those sins forever in the land beyond the blue.
