Notes About The Poem

Been witing some poetry forms, which I have not done before.  Originally lost this one, but managed to find it!  This could also be a Terza Rima sonnet.

A Terza Rima is a type of poem which is made up of three-line stanzas linked to each other by rhyme. Each stanza, or tercet, introduces a new rhyme in its middle line, while the first and third lines continue a rhyme from the previous stanza. So the rhyme scheme is going to be A-B-A, B-C-B, C-D-C, and so on.

Typically a terza rima poem ends with a single line that repeats the rhyme of the middle line from the last tercet, or a couplet with two lines that both use the last middle line's rhyme: B-C-B, C-D-C, D, or DD.

Forgive me

Forgive me if I should adore you too much,
but these pangs of yearning keep calling your name,
Drunk from desires to once again feel your touch.

Only your kiss can quench the angst of this flame,
as without you, my lone heart struggles to beat.
my soul is an abode for you to reclaim.

Boundless sea keeps me apart from lips so sweet,
if only the waves would carry me to your shore,
then surely our hopes and dreams would be complete.

I'll keep you warm when the heavens start to pour,
form a love that's timeless like the sun and moon,
so forgive me when I love you even more.

We can hide from the world in our cocoon,
in moments of passion from midnight to noon.

If only our words were enough to persuade someone to share these feelings. I think it must be difficult for people to respond to what's in our heart when the chemistry doesn't match exactly. It takes a long time and a lot of work to make a relationship work. Your thoughts are very pure and express an intense longing. It is very sobering for me to read this and it strikes me that you are a young soul, although I have no idea how old you are.

Such a beautiful Terza Rima, Silent One. I think many people feel this way in the first few years, but when you still feel this way after fifty years, then that is special. A wonderful expression of love.

Dear Silent One, nothing sharpens the focus on love more than the yearning for a love beyond the reach of one's desperate fingertips and one's longing for "lips so sweet". Your rich imageries and textured metaphors portray deep forlorn emotions with poignant artistic finesse. Your grand artistry is perfectly framed in the Terza Rima form. Your verses "Forgive me if I should adore you too much" and "so forgive me when I love you even more" are exquisite and swoon-worthy! Warmest wishes my inspiring friend.. ~Susan

Oh gosh this made me tear up! This is so adorable and so beautiful and so heartfelt! The way you weave love poems always remind me of pablo neruda! And i say this always. You make your readers feel so much and the way your lines flow is so beautiful! I love especially “ Only your kiss can quench the angst of this flame, as without you, my lone heart struggles to beat” sigh! How touching and the longing there youv described is so vivid! “ if only the waves would carry me to your shore” awwn

Hey I like this - it sounds very Shakespearean for some reason despite the absence of ye olde English. My favourite line "so forgive me when I love you even more." speaks loudly of a love unrequited; the saddest love of all. It churns the furrows of my heart, so I have to fave. S :)
