In an attempt to stop fraud (one in 30 of the current pound coins is fake) the old British pound coin is being phased out and will no longer be able to be used in the UK from 15th Ocotber 2017. A new 12 sided coin comes into circulation from 28th March

Yes the old pounds are going BUT having just gone to the UK recently i was amazed at how few people had actually seen one of the new coins - we managed to get one by asking in a shop and have kept it to show folks back here at home:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Maria:-) I've not actually seen one of the new coins yet:-) Here on the Ise of Man we have our own currency (we still have £1 notes which they no longer have in England) but we also accept currency from the UK so I don't think it will be too long before I get one in my change:-) hugs jan xx

Great title and word wizardry Jan plus I learned something, I love that :-) Good to deter forgers but it must cost a fortune to do. Unsure if taxpayers foot the bill there, plus, to change machines of all kinds. The sign of the times I guess. Again, you fit a lot in so few words. Nicely done :-) lynnxxx

We have our own currency on the Isle of Man so they have no plans to introduce the new 12 sided coin but they will issue more of our £1 notes. yes the cost of changing slot machines must be phenomenal!:-) hugs Jan xx

The current pound is round so the new 12 sided pound will be more difficult for the forgers to fake. At the current time our Island is not changing its own pound coins and introducing the new ones but they are increasing the amount of pound notes in circulation:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Tim - our government are going to issue some more of our paper £1 notes and we will retain the manx £1 coin for the time being ... will be interesting to see if they eventually issue the 12 sided coins here too:-) hugs Jan xx
