Forever In My Heart
One winter's day you came to us
Right out of the blue!
Damaged, alone, starved and scared -
Your trauma silenced you.
Your bark and bite got lost somehow
But your character was loud and clear.
You made the most of the love we gave.
In return, you brought us so much cheer!
Eight wonderful years ...
How fast they flew!
We're so grateful
That we had you.
We'll miss the spring that was in your step
When your dish rang like a bell,
The way your beautiful eyes lit up
When exploring a different smell,
The pitter-patter of your paws
As you paced 'til you got attention,
The puppy in you when it was time to play,
Your grin and your affection!
Yes dear Sally, our yellow Lab,
How we miss you so!
We promise never to forget you,
Never to let go.
And though on that Monday morning baby,
We both had to part,
You'll always be my little treasure
Forever in my heart.
