A forest - sunlight squeezing through the arms uplifted by its countless ancient trees. So fortress-like; her inner royal charms even the time-worn traveler seldom sees. What culture lies within? What foreign tongue is chattered nervously by bird and beast? What joyful hymns of revelry are sung which, by my drawing near, in fear are ceased? My love, those hidden parts I find unique are those which I would most desire to know. Dark corners which I least wish you to seek - the very ones you need the light to show. Though brighter are the colors from outside, let's pledge to let no hues within us hide.

What a beautiful metaphorical poem, John. Your poetic artistry shines in the intimate romance of lush emotion and luscious imagery lilting to a heartbeat's rhythm. Such is the embracing impact of your talented pen and exquisite sonnet. The language of this piece just sweeps me up and away and I love it! A Fav!! Warmest wishes, my wonderful friend.

I'm going to take a look through some of your sonnets now. Unfortunately, I just looked through my FAVE list and the 14 faved poems I have from you are none of your sonnets. I am hoping I have missed reading some of your sonnets, for surely a few of them will be faves for me as well! By the way, this one could make a good contender in the sonnet contest.

I really like how you are addressing the forest as if talking to it. (hope I got that right at the ending). Lovely imagery in this one, John. as you can see, I am working my way up from the bottom again. I see this was posted quite a long time ago. So strange I do not recall knowing you back then!!
