I run heedless thru woods My 'shalls' and my 'shoulds' Streaking 'hind me, in tow Burning spans while I go Thus before I place foot I have rendered all, soot One deep forest of haste A heart old and displaced Gazing back at the waste Lost in night, now erased. Hello Gregory R. Barden, forest fires are dangerous campers should be more aware of putting out camp fires carefully. But then ther is the dry spell that als o causes fires. have a nice day my friend.

Thank you so very much, Darlene, I greatly appreciate it! The "fires" in my poem are but metaphorical ones, but you are so correct ... too many folks take fire and campfires for granted, and don't give it the respect it deserves. Blessings! :-) <3

This work of yours says the same thing I say ,but in mine I had to be graphically explicit in verbalising about what an absolute twat I was. Yes, and winter is coming on and I have to start firebreaks soon else the veld then becomes an inferno. Im fasting too, the country is like hell. Blackouts, riots, murder with an election looming. Miracle needed. All nice and African you know. Greetings mon ami

Great minds think alike? Or perhaps, in our case, great hearts seek the same truths? Blessings, Brother! :-)

To think that I inspired YOU?!? Well, that's just freaking awesome, my friend, as is seeing you "about" the Soup! Truly, this and your poem made my WEEK, and I do not take your (rare) visits for granted ... you were the very first here to reach out and encourage me, and I will NEVER forget that. If I ever DO publish a collection or write a sci-fi novel, there will be a dedication to you, my friend! :-)
