Severe disaster brought Ruination and disruptive vegetation. A scorching breeze increased devastation, From unscrupulous persons unknown: Hidden fierce fire That spread rapidly. A hush, For no life could be in evidence, Except for stouthearted firefighters Risking their cherished lives. A wild dry wind swirled suddenly. Smoke became untamed, An aching purgatory No ocean can purge. The fiery cloud Covered the forest green; Moonlight snuffed out, Concealed, tormented, A message of ill will, As children cried and gasped, Families were reduced homeless, In hurry to elope from the tragedy. Helpless animals unable to escape died. A taste of vandalism, Or terrorism? Or man made climate change?

"An aching purgatory No ocean can purge.".... These two lines describe the magnitude of the tragedy. As you suspect it could be man made, an act of vandalism or an instance of terrorism or a natural calamity. What ever it be, how many lives must have been burnt alive ! A powerful write...

I wish this sad story of chaotic forest inferno weren't true, but it's happening at an alarming rate. I hope that change comes soon. Great writing, Victor.

It is so sad when I see all those fires raging on the TV news. There is nothing that we can do to help. I feel for the people who have lost everything and even some have lost their lives. Very timely work you have penned in this one. Creative way to go. Thanks for your visit. Sara

All of the above--here in the US. You painted eloquently, Victor, how lives are shattered, displaced by this tragedy. Sadly, it keeps repeating.
