Forbidden Love

You tear at my heart every day.
How can I bear the pain?
The pain of hoping,
The pain of regret,
The pain of shame...
Please release from your grip.
Nothing can come of this.
Nothing but lies and heartache,
Lonely nights and insincerity.
How I long for you to really love me,
Yet I dread the day
When you realize how I feel.
What have you done to me?
I didn't want this.
When I look into the chaotic serenity
Of your eyes,
And see the turmoil of your life,
Why do I ache with longing
When I should just walk away?
