For You

For all those sunny years we’ve spent together
For all the clouds that drifted in between
For all the paradise we might have seen
For ships of hope that wrecked in stormy weather

For all the love we made on scented heather
For all the words and fights that haven’t been
For all the daily deadening routine
For heavy times we lifted like a feather

You’re nice and wise and good and cute and clever
The very best that happened in my life
No way I’m going to leave you lonely, never
Your way to fortune is my only drive
So here’s this poem for you, to last forever
Now let me think of something for my wife
