For the Love of Poetry
Two total strangers,
two peas in a pod,
brought closer together,
over something they love,
Like the air we need
to help us breathe,
to both of them poetry
is an insatiable need,
Like the food we consume
to help us survive,
poetry nourishes the soul,
so we can grow and thrive,
Daily we dip
into poetry's well,
bringing rhyming to reason
in an abundance of wealth,
For our daily thirst from this well
our lives need to be quenched,
by the poems we read and write
showing the evidence,
Just as the earthly elements
help the peas to prosper,
we need daily doses of poetry,
to share our pain, joy and laughter.
