Notes About The Poem

For the Better

I can live a life of modest means,
Closer to nature, that is for me,
Untie the chains that ties me to greed,
Not wants like Joneses, but my own dreams,

Not money or clout, health or status,
Able to solve them, joy will be mines,
Trials and test, will rise from ill choices,
Learn the standards, good life waits for us,

          An equitable world, be smoother,
Suffer not my value, nor discard,
Of social order, ways and means cause,
          Nature's balance, harmonized future.

Yes, you must, as the title indicates! Life experience and introspection brings one to new places...hopefully not self-serving.
