For So Many Years

For so many years I’ve waited to be,
Back here again and close to thee.
To leave you was a pain I wish I could have spared you,
Yet deep in my heart I knew that one day I’d be back here
With you.
I thought if you many times over those years.
I’d smile when I’d remember you fondly through my tears.
And now once again you are here with me, my gal from the city
So take my hand my lady and I’ll take you where the eagles fly
And together we will stand and touch the sky
