Footprints In the Snow

Footprints in the Snow

I have followed all the footprints
Left by turkeys in the snow
All I wanted was to fit in
With the flock of them I know
But they’ve set a bad example
Which has made it hard so I
Can’t get off the beaten trail
And teach myself to fly
I have tried so many times
To get ahead but I just fail
Because I always stop to help
All the turkeys on the trail
I would love to be a leader
But I’d have no peace of mind
If my life kept getting better
But I left a friend behind
But there’s one thing I discovered
That these turkeys do not know
Is they’re walking in a circle
Coming back to where they go
So to try and make a difference
I’ve stopped going with the flow
And I have started making
My own footprints in the snow
