Fool Me Once Contest

Believing you've been played a fool
Cuts sharp into the bone
I know because it happened to me
The worst pain I've ever known

Betrayal seeps through each emotion
Shreds them apart like ribbons
When anger becomes the primary feeling
Resentment is now a given

It invades every facet of life
Before it is realized
No one wants to live this way
Sure that everyone lies

A self-evaluation turns it all around
Gives back personal control
In any way was there a volunteer?
It is important that we know

It can be hard to recognize which
Warning flags we ignored
Insuring they will not be repeated
Soon self-worth is restored

Very introspective piece, sometimes we are only the victims of our bad choices, but realizing that 'gives back personal control,' well thought out write!

The anguish in this one comes through so vividly … and yet you have offered such a workable, sensible way to get clear of it. It is a winner for me, Susan. Good luck in the contest. Kudos. ~ Gershon
