Edward Ibeh's This or That Vol. 20 Contest  ~  September 13, 2023

Dorothy was lost and pointed in the right direction. She was told to walk on the winding yellow brick road where she met friends who offered her protection. All she wanted was a way to Kansas and her abode. "Follow me to the Wizard," the road seemed to say. " But he turned out to be a fraud; a fake put on display. Alice journeyed down a hole, chasing a White Rabbit and a fantastical adventure quickly began to unfold. He didn't bid her, "Follow me," but Alice had a habit of never doing what she'd been told. The girl was bold. Foolish child read a note that was scribbled, "Open me" after plunging head over heels into a den of inequity. "Follow me" down a dark desert highway to a place... An alluring voice called to many, to gather for a feast. Hotel California offered them a lifestyle to embrace, but there was no escape. No way to kill the beast. Alibis didn't help anyone who tried their best to resist. No one found a way to leave. The choice did not exist. John Denver sang, "Follow me" when love let him down. He asked, "Take my hand and say you'll follow me." He wanted to share his life, up and down, all around, but it was never known if that love was meant to be. He sang to her, but did she ever come to understand that what he offered her was his love and his hand? There was a man of long ago who said, "Follow me." Disciples walked with Jesus to preach God's Holy Word. He made them fishers of men so all would come to see there was hope of life everlasting, once they'd heard. The Son gave his life so we'd be cleansed from all sin. By following Christ, life in God's Kingdom could begin.
