Notes About The Poem

Contrast: Fairytale Limerick

Folklore Failure

Ditsy blonde mother of Red Riding Hood
Sent her little girl alone to the wood…
Once upon a present time
That would be a heinous crime,
Mom and grandma for neglect would be sued.

Cinderella story, of poor and rich,
Used and abused by stepmother, a witch!
The orphan’s mere breakthrough -
Lost and found crystal shoe,
Another parable of system glitch!

It gets better with a Snow White story,
Her dear stepmom’s nothing short of gory.
Epitome of chill -
To kill or not to kill.
A horror or a fairytale glory?!

And last not least, Hansel and Gretel grief,
Against good natured humankind belief,
Parents, biological -
Utterly illogical,
Kids saved by their own wit! What a relief!

These are fun, as for AI it has gotten to the point where I check my own work to see if it flagged before I post even though I know I have written it myself

this is one of the best humourous strings of limericks I have read for the contest - it's so sad to see some others use AI to write multiple poems - sad times on soup - no wonder many of my friends no longer post here:-( hugs Jan x

Oh thank you Jan. Sad and disturbing indeed. Degrading to all poets’ reputation as well. Wonder if there’s a way to detect it. Plagiarism fades in comparison.
