Fly

Clip a bird's wings at birth
so she may never feel
the deprivation of stolen freedom,
never a sitting bystander to the open
air, her song never leaving the nest
from her body, trapped

Ooh. And la la! I am still trying to get "here." I can't keep it below 12 lines. Getting there, have to force myself to be light of hand, make each line zing so that it is enough, as you have done here. Love the cut between open/air and nest/from her body. Thanks for the tethered compliment... my question of who you are wasn't over confusion over the subject of the poem. :D. I sense you are a either published or even published and an editor. If you're not published, well, they're fools ;)
