Flow of Time

Like green leaves that turn yellow and wither away
Like buds that blossom and fade away
Like white clouds that turn sullen gray
Like lengthening shadows darken the day
The whirligig of time brings forth
Mysteries hidden in time's womb
The only certain destiny death
That stone cold tomb.
Like a flickering flame blown out by the wind
Life's breath is soon extinguished.
So we too shall pass away
And while on this journey we may
In this deepening gloom, shine a bright ray
Love, help, encourage, pray
A new beginning everyday.

A lovely poem which inspires us to look at life with a positive attitude. Life is too short; let's make the most of it, and help others to do the same! // paul

Hello Nandita... a nice poem Nandita that reflects on life and how our journey begins and then over time we slowly wither away but leave a legacy for those who follow us - thank you Nandita - Lindsay

Thank you Lindsay for your reflections on this. Life begins and ends with time. It's the journey that counts.

Hi Nandita, a very thoughtful poem and one that makes you realise how precious life is and how short it is so not to waste a single minute, especially as one gets older. Edward.

Thank you for reading and for your insightful comments. True, life is so precious and time shouldn't be frittered away. Sad to see all the violence and apathy in this world.
