Florida

Flamingos pink and perky love wading in the glades, Lazing on white sand beaches you'll see tourists on display. Oranges grow in groves off'ring juicy sweet splendor, Rainy days combust into lightning flash and thunder. Interesting marine life, such as Manatees, dwell here, Days of blazing sunshine draw many Snowbirds near. Alligators do abound - just want to make that clear! To sum it up, Florida can be a tropical paradise. A great place to live if you don't like snow and ice. 3/26/14 (For those of you unfamiliar with the term "Snowbirds": It's the nickname for the Northerners who come spend their winters in Florida's warmer climate)

I enjoyed this Kim. I had lots of fun one spring on an airboat, I would do it again in a New York minute. Haha. We used to have lots of snowbirds on flights to get away from the cold. Loved your Acrostic! (Your weather is quite a lot like ours, only we rarely get thunder and lightening when it rains.) Aloha

Hi Kim, this write sells Florida so well :) enjoyable read. Being Maltese I don't envy you the long periods of sunshine...we get too much of those over here! (not that I'm grumbling, mind you). On the other hand, here we do not have many birds to enjoy. cu // paul

Dear Kim, It's nice to meet a fellow Floridian. Haven't been to the Everglades, but your description of them is quite lovely. Contrary to popular belief, an expert told me humans can easily outrun alligators on land. You have to watch out in the water though. The flamingos, sandy beaches and snowbirds paint a very beautiful portrait of Florida. Got to love those manatees! So cute. Well done! Love, carolyn

oh my gosh, Kim, I sure hope you did not see the comment I posted about an hour ago. I did not recall that I was commenting to the judge of this contest and in my comment I told you the way I was thinking of doing my acrostic when I got around to it. GOOD grief!!! Anyway, wanted you to know that I found your example poem to be fantastic. In my comment I said something to the effect that you had done fantastic for this challenge. hahaha. Love this poem
