Notes About The Poem

Flight of Fantasty

In the stillness of my heart
When the clamor of existence dips into the twilight of my sub-consciousness
There where eternity waltzes with my make believe
In my utopian dream
You come

The moonlit halo of your figure looms
there in the star kissed landscape of my mind
I catch my breath
The wet fog of deception and falsehood clears
You come to right the wrong
of a million hurts in the languishing heart
Your eyes, pools of mysteries unexplained
ethereal yet real...
Spellbound, I gaze

You pick me up in your arms
press me to your chest
and in this place
where beauty is the master designer of grace
I trace your face
and sigh

You carry me
I’m burdened
You carry me
I’m broken
You carry me
I'm wounded
You carry me
past the gutted castles
of burned out promises
out to the open fantasy fields
you carry me
Calling out to the sun
You make him vanquish the night
and I see
a flowing stream
with a weeping willow tree
and flowers to cheer
to a place where fantasy frolics free
you carry me

And in that place
where longings are unfettered by reality
you lay me down
Silently
you lean over me
you command the breeze
to undress me with his hands
you ask the willow tree
to shelter us in her flowing hair
and there
there you show me
What it means
To be loved wantonly

With adoration’s seal
you cover my lips
and every part of me
in this place of fantasy
you open my eyes to see
what it means
to be a woman
love filled
and
free

Eileen

In many ways....I'm still a little girl believing in fairytales and happy endings...believing in a world where people "mean what they say and say what they mean." Believing in fantasy and love... :)

Hi Eileen! The land of fantasy is where most of our poetry springs from. Deep down we can never really get rid of the little child within. It keeps us company and allows us to remain 'young' at heart. This time you are not in an overwhelming, triumphant mood...instead you are lost in the knowledge that your knight in silver armour has come to make your dreams come true. Top marks for the ease with which this poem has been expressed. Hugs ... paul

Thank you, Paul...I've missed your visits of late. I hope all is well. You must be busy. You know me so well. :) I wanted this to be surreal, in a sense. Reality is never like that. I know that. :) Yes, I have an all life pass to Fantasy Land. They know me so well there, that I get the best treatment. You go occasionally....and that's ok too. Hugs

Yes all is well, just got back from playing tennis out doors. Super warm sunny day. The last month and a half have been amazing.

It's like summer over here. I sometimes put the fan on. TOO HOT! I'm glad you got some tennis in. ROGER IS IN TOP FORM. That guy is poetry in motion. :) Thanks for the second visit. Always a pleasure. :)

I do love an ooh la la happy ending. This poem has a shadowy feel to it but it is infused with your bright light. The contrasted emotions and passion work well together.

:) :) :) :) For every la la la! Thanks, Richard. This is the triumph of love over.....everything. I wanted to paint the man in this piece as having command over everything....larger than life. She doesn't have to understand everything about his nature....except that he adores her....He adores her. Oh...to be adored. Must be sweet. Thanks for the visit...Hope all is well.

And now my dearest friend you take me to the other extreme, your depth of emotion is only matched by the diversity of your writing. This poem is beautiful, never doubt yourself you are the epitomy of womanhood. And remember dreams are what makes the world turn, some endings are truely happy and some people do "mean what they say and say what they mean." You are my Enchantress, your words show your soul, gentle, passionate, fierce. A poets soul. love Shane xxx

Thank you, Shane. You are always so kind to me. Gentle and fierce are roles I know and play well. It all depends on my frame of mind at the moment. Yes, I am a very complex creature. Sometimes I wish I were plain and predictable. I'm not that way. My emotions plunge me to the depths of despair and to the heights of ecstasy. Middle ground would be sweet. Thank you for your visit, my dear. Hope all is well.

Oh I so liked how you went from long languid lines to short breathy lines! Light & Love

I LOVE how you used languid and breathy as adjectives for the word LINES! How sweet, Debbie. Hugs

:) Yes, my dear....Don't let go of her. I know I never shall. My inner child will be with me when I'm a grandma with my hair in a bun and my wrinkles all aglow! Thanks for your sweet kindness to me. HUGS
