Fleeing Unseeing
Last night I dreamt of them
Fleeing under the cover of darkness
Liars, adulterers, murderers and thieves
Terrified of the monsters on their heels
They flew into an abandoned house and began pushing old furniture against the flimsy door
When the glass windows shattered and there was a lound bang
An eerie voice cackled and another one sang
Petrified, they turned to look at one another
When they were interrupted by a muffled scream followed by a deep shudder
One of them fell on the hardwood floor
They watched in horror as his hand turn into a freaky animal claw
Shards of broken mirror flew into the air
Into their eyes and into their hair
Every reflection they saw turned into another scream
Pinches! This was reality not some dream
The front door broke into a thousand pieces
Then came a volley of a stink of faeces
When the police arrived they found nobody there
Rumours flew and people said they were killed by a deadly grizzly bear
Three years later the forensic team reopened the case
Other tips from the public led the police to a futile chase
A forensic expert went back to the house and found a single hair
In the lab, she used a pair of tweezers to inspect the strange looking hair
In that moment a strong desire came over her
To touch the thick strand of hair with her bare hand
She felt one pinprick and turned into quicksand.
