Throughout the Covid nineteen pandemic we’ve all been encouraged to wear a face mask But it’s an illusion they protect us from getting the virus … they prevent the wearer from inadvertently spreading the illness We have to weigh up health advice about wearing these items of course in many places it is compulsory although some people are exempt for medical reasons I’ve cracked a smile when I’ve seen homemade face coverings fashioned from flowery bras of various shapes and sizes but these contraptions are a mere façade they may be imperfect and flawed and can be easily torn or broken I’ll continue to do the right thing for me for the health of myself and my family and for our community… because at long last we are covid free Writing Prompt - Flawed - Poetry Contest Sponsored by Constance La France 06/21/21

An interesting viewpoint on masks; are we covid free? The newer versions are still coming with no guarantees that the shots protect. Perhaps we should continue indeed. Congraratulations on your win.

Hello Jan … as much as masks are annoying, your verse gives me the reasoning why we wear them. Here it is law at this time, particularly indoors. We were covid free, but get the odd importation now and then - thanks Jan - Lindsay

Congratulations. So, true, Jan. People just want to make money out of everything. Lacey like bras, designer ones, rhinestone ones.... and people buy them to show off...

I did not know bras could be easily torn or broken as I encourage women not to wear them since men can not figure out how to undo them . . . .

Hey Jan! Great incorporation of the prompt words in your free verse lines. Like the rhyming verse at the end, too. Thumbs up!!

Heya Jan, I like the way you embedded the prompt words, I honestly would never have noticed them only for the bold print, the flowery bra, is a good one, haven’t seen any yet, but I have seen filthy ones on people, refusing to change them for whatever reason , I think the vaccine is a game changer, and appears to be the only way forward, great read, best of luck in the contest, cheers David

I've been wearing a mask since March last year. And frankly, I'm fed up. But rules are rules and there's a hefty fine if you forget your mask. Hugs.

We had to wear them in shops etc but now we have no restrictions except for visiting medical establishments and care homes - we are so lucky here Victor are covid free but the border changes will soon change that - cases in the Uk are rising yet people will be able to come over if they have had 2 jabs... it protects but doesnt stop you getting the virus... we will be back in lockdown with the Indian variant before we know it hugs jan xx

Hi Jan, You used the chosen words and penned a good piece apt for the times we're living in. I can't wait for Covid 19 to be ancient history. Thank goodness the world is starting to open up; however, we still need to follow protocols because Covid is still here. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great day:-) Alexis

There are 20,000 variants of The Virus already, Golly. The reason things are opening is that 7 states here have no problems, no masks, no deaths no distancing, The rest of tbe world took notice My state, New York, Illinois all have been under lockdown. Sick people, deaths, etc, our Gov is waking up. Lockdowns begone, Masks? Merde! LOL Add tons of suicides. Pangie xx Pangie xx

We are officially covid free BUT our border opens on 28th and as long as people have 2 jabs and 14 days have elapsed since their last dose then they are free to visit with no restrictions, no test on arrival and no mask wearing - its ludicrous as the UK is rife with a new variant and of course many here myself included haven't had a second jab yet. Stay safe my friend:-) hugs Jan xx
