FIRST PLACE

Flavorful Free Verse

the main ingredient in my poetic recipe is muse
I will mix it up with a sprinkle of metaphors and similes
       the clouds sailed across the sky
       the river glowed as if lit from within

and a labyrinthine of twisting beautiful words
dashes of alliteration, enjambment, and lingering lines
   a flourish of nature ~
it will simmer for hours pausing at times

an oomph of sugar, salt and pepper
oh, no punctuation it will be sweet enough
2 lines, 3, 4, 6, or long like a spaghetti noodle
pause the cooking with line breaks and interruption

stop abruptly, change, add, remove
stir it up to create motion, swirl it, add spice, whoosh
make it delicious and tasty
add a zip of tears . . . cook it sublime
