Notes About The Poem

Five Years Old Once More

Five Years Old Again.
.
Temperature scorching
The most beautiful day
To idle away
Sun smiled down perched upon my pew
In the most vibrant unblemished
Expanse of glorious sky
That left one completely content
And satisfied
.
I was by the sea sat upon a beach
My pew
Surveying the sights and hordes
Of beach dwellers within my view
People stretched out
Soaking in the drenching sun
While others played games
And were having fun
.
Suddenly something captured my eye
That made my heart smile
For a while
.
Two rotundly middle-aged Ladies
Suddenly stood up in bathing costumes
Inflating them like balloons
Facing each other
They looked in each others eyes
And without a word
They understood each other and smiled
.
Suddenly the years departed
They were five again
And youthful hearted
Then they turned
And raced each other to the
To the sea
Like kids
But what made me smile and a pleasure to see
Was the fun look on their faces
And look in their eyes
Suddenly they again were five
.
Something that has stuck in my mind
All this time
We all have a inner child
That longs to be free
To have fun
No matter who we be
Life is for living
Caring loving and giving
Life is serious
But it’s good
To still be young at heart
.
I never knew who the two Ladies were
Even today
But that beautiful day by the beach
I’ll always remember and won’t go away
Had me wondering
Were they sisters?
Did they meet on that beach as kids?
And become friends
A halcyon story
Without an end
That encouraged me
To pick up my pen.
.

What an honor. thank you so much, Regina. made my day. Strange how something that small, can start a chain reaction. It was wonderful to observe and taught me not to take life always so serious.Stay safe.
