First Tulips
First tulips in early morning light,
A cheering birthday sight.
Though I trod off to work today,
Their mellow glow guided my way.
Spring is such a hopeful season,
To celebrate no matter the reason.
Annual life reflection now a gentler chore,
Than end of year resolutions I abhor.
My playful pup Aengus gave a lesser gift,
Hiding my shoe this morn had me miffed.
So I’m grateful my garden’s calming effect,
Saves him from impulses unchecked.
