First Taste of Winter

flakes, like feathers, drifting down

forming a rug at my feet

cold and crisp the air around

winter's first taste ... sweet

We had a first taste of winter about a week and a half ago. We got just a dusting in the early morning hours. By noon, there wasn't a trace of the white. I have a feeling we are due for a more generous portion of the stuff, but I hope it's not more than we can shovel and plow. Good dodoitsu Francine.
