First Raindrop
Was it a raindrop or your holy tear
That splashed hard onto virgin ground
Were those mournful groans that reached stubborn ears
Before final floodgates’ opening sound
Or was it loud thunder of crashing waves
Sent from your angry broken heart
As the landscape rapidly disappeared
The mountains and seas no longer apart
Did they taste the drops as they all fell down
Was it salt or sweet on their tongues
Did they cry out to you then for mercy
Before pounding waters filled their spent lungs
Though the first raindrop was followed by pain
The clouds that were emptied in wrath
Now your rain like your tears come with healing
A blessed hope for our dry mortal path
