Notes About The Poem

First Day of School

she
stood in
front of her
young seventh grade
classroom on the very first day of school

Happy Birthday written on the black board
as she walked in
boys and girls
stole her
heart

Ahh!! Wasn't that a great class for the new teacher. I have seen this picture on many of the other poets so I know it is for a contest. It reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Thanks for dropping by my page. Sara

What a wonderful tribute to the teaching profession - this write is so cute, but these children have been shown kindness and love by their families, and know how to give it back. Love it Eve. Hugs and blessisgs, Jennifer.

So sweet. Your prescient words match up with the look on the teacher's face so perfectly!... I wonder if there are any classrooms that look like the one depicted by N.R. Happiness and Joy, Gershon

As a retred teacher, Eve, this touched me! Children impacted my life. Their open souls and willingness to question everything was amazing. Those old chairs and teachers desks lived for decades, even I had one like that, Kids had respect for teachers back in the Day! Lovely verse thank you...Pangie

Thank you, Pangie, children in a class room can really steal your heart. Yes, I too worked in a class room, all different, but all wonderful. :)
