Firefly
I was leaned back, and the firefly's
were lighting up the night
at a beat full of the sunset,
the summer spirits present all
around the glow,
and the choir rang and the dark roared
closer, larger, louder
till all was black.
The glowing ceased and not a sign
of yellow light remained,
and the night air had a white tinge
of the moonlight and the white shine
replaced the glow.
I sat and breathed the swiftly chilled
and foggy air and sighed,
then rose and left.
