Notes About The Poem

Written June 21 2026 for Ink Empresses contest Heart of the Heartbeat

Fire and Water

Where the sky drifts into the sea
And twilight slips into starry destiny
I see you in the cliffs of mountains
Snowy tops dip into heart’s fountains

Your soul is like haunting hurricane
I’m a little boat riding it so insane
For you are stronger with less force
Maybe I’m the braver one by choice

You want my life and I live for you
You’ve made me wife I cherish this too
You are so strong perhaps as deep
Carry me along with eyes that speak

But I am red fire to your water sign
Both full of desire we sip like wine
You’re uplifting motivating and beautiful
I’m captivating grounding and typical

Our relationship is destined despite dilemma
Kiss upon lips brings bliss we’ll remember

Ahh are you truly fire and water in marriage? I am earth to Joe's water. It can be a pain sometimes but works out somehow. Hope you scored well in Ink's contest. Mine didn't do so great but I really enjoyed the prompt!

You placed third that’s not bad though you are used to higher placement. I’m not married and can only speculate on what I see in other’s marriage lol. Thanks

Karen, quite often opposites combine to make a beautiful whole. It sounds like that is what happened in this case. Enjoy the beauty that comes from opposites, savor it and may it last a lifetime! Ron

I’m smiling that you get this one. I often write from hindsight views of past experiences. And sometimes they work out to mean more to me looking back lol! Thanks for your insight.
