Notes About The Poem

FILAMENT WHISPERS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It hums in the kitchen of a burnt-out house,
a lone star in a gutted sky.
Yellow as old teeth,
flickering like a heartbeat
on the edge of flatline.
Some nights, the bulb sways~
a hanged man dancing
to a song only ruin remembers.
The wiring groans.
The filament whispers:
Burn. Burn. Burn.
And so it does~
not for light,
but for hope,
because giving up
is not an option.
