Fighting a Future To Build

He fought his way 
Through life against all odds 
And came out victorious.

The enemies were many
The battles innumerable
The pain unbearable
But 
He stood his ground 
Despite the beating 
Despite the cost. 

He faced malice 
He faced deceit 
He faced hate, and
Also betrayal 
But
He kept going
Regardless hardships.

He was cold
He was hungry
He was lonely, and
Suffered a lot, 
But 
He stood his ground 
Despite the tortures 
Despite the hurt.
 
His childhood stolen
His youth compromised
His manhood disillusioned
Thus
He had to accept
He had to deny
He had to allow, and 
Also to reject
But 
He stood his ground 
Despite the pressure
Despite the loss.
 
He fought the tyrants
He faced the despots, and 
Many wretched men
But 
He pursued his dreams
To build his future 
Regardless the toll
Thus 
After many decades of fighting 
He stood on the top.

He came from a very poor family. He lost his father when he was ten and his mother when he was fourteen. From the age of fifteen lived alone, working and studying. Immigrated to Canada where he continued working and studying. He got his, BA, MA, and Ph.D. in philosophy. Became a professor, an author, and was involved in politics running for the Greek and the European parliament. Now he is retired, writing poems. Thank you for your precious visit and comment.
