- Field Of Forgiveness -

The badger entering the underground labyrinth
it is impossible to discover the stars at night
In the drowsy dark caves of the mind
trying to maintain the truth safe in the memory
    Clouds, slowly suffocate my courage
While sipping the liqueur of bitterness
Unspoken words die on the tongue, as seasons come and pass

    Ghosts in dirty rags
Wounded feelings, in the shadow of the evening

Forgive me, with the scent of lilies to sweeten the path of life
The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams
Field of forgiveness gives love renovated splendor
From darkness, to flower - in the embrace of harmony

Anne-Lise, we do know that forgiveness ends the destructive cycle of anger and the ruinous thoughts that intrude on our daily lives. You're spot on with this thinking. How we can bring ourselves to enter the path of forgiveness requires reshaping how we think, which requires a considerable effort. This poem helps think about what we need to do. It does make life much sweeter for sure!!! Smiles!

A quite beauteous forgiveness poem, Anne-Lise. A resounding FAV! Especially in the Christmastide season, forgiveness is such a Christian virtue. My very best wishes for the contest with this worthy entry. Blessings xox x

A beautiful perspective. You had some dark images....but you had a light ending.

The poem as a whole is beautiful, Anne-Lise, and the metaphorical aspect of it appeals to me. Of course, the main topic is 'forgiveness'; without it we are condemned to darkness and bitter moments devoid of love. ~ Warm regards & hugs my friend // paul

Words speak a truth. Forgive with patience. The meter of this poem ties the metaphors into a story. A very clever style.

Holding onto grievances really takes a toll on you over time. Forgiving can be difficult, but once you do, it feels great and helps you proceed forward. Wishing you all the best in the contest!
