Feeding the Ducklings

She has a smile today instead of a frown
Lately, age and infirmity have gotten her down
“I’m off to feed the ducks and ducklings” she said
“With grain and some old pieces of bread.
Come with me and see how sweet they are,
The nice pond in the park is really not so far”…
So off we went to see these harbingers of spring
To this elderly woman a bit of joy they bring
A reminder that as the seasons again turn round
Sometimes in small things our happiness is found…

A relatable piece, Barbara, for the older folks, perhaps retired with time on their hands where they can spend in sheer enjoyment. I always enjoy the ducks and geese in public places; even the ones that make me slow down while they block traffic. In two places here there are signs posted against feeding them. Well-done.
