February Morning
February Mornings
The house smells of cooked bacon
wafting through the hallways
flooding the taste buds with anticipation,
toast browning in the warm red glow,
coffee brewing in the pot,
pancakes flooded by rich syrup
pools swimming around the edges,
breakfast waits on the kitchen table
greeting the cold at morning light
listening to traffic scans on local tv,
then off into the day of work again
until the weekend rest from constant repeat.
