Snoopy was my very first dog. When I was nearing ten years old I was playing in the snow. We were sliding down the snow-covered hill in a refrigerator box when Snoopy jumped in. (Scared the hell out of me-lol) She had no dog tag/liscense on her so I asked everyone in the neighborhood if they knew who the owner was...nobody knew. We were deep inside the woods so she very well could have been astray or lost. We had her for twelve years before she sadly said good-bye :(

A long-time memory that hugs my heart, so many years ago. When I was nearing ten years old, I was playing in the snow. It was me and my two sisters, my brother and his gal. And there was also my dog "Snoopy" whom I've always called- "MY Pal." The snow had fallen for two days long, and it was bitter cold. But that didn't stop a child from playing in the snow, when their nearing ten years old. I remember throwing snowballs and constructing igloos too! We'd play all day in the snow, until our lips turned blue. But lastly, I remember, 'twas one of my favourite things. In the snow, we'd lay on our backs, and make "Snow Angel Wings."

Dear Charles, i read this few times, i know there is an error on the second line, where you’ve accidentally written “ was” before “ when i was nearing “ but this haibun really touched my heart, the flow of your storytelling and also how soulful it is truly made this one stand out for me! And so evocative and beautiful to read! Memories that hug your heart, you’ve described in such eloquence! So seamlessly! The innocence of childhood, i can see through your words! CONGRATULATIONS on winning!
