Fear the Closed Door
Do not tempt death by opening its door, for in its time it will find you.
~ by poet
What lies behind that door?
Is it darkness or light?
A place filled with shadows
and silence, day and night?
With such a thought, fear grows.
What lies behind that door?
View of my future, or
memories from my past?
Curious to know, but
don't want to breathe my last.
What lies behind that door?
I grasp the bronze handle
my fingers start to shake.
If I should open it
would it be a mistake?
What lies behind that door?
It's quite a mystery,
said I, in whispered breath.
I won't tempt fate today,
being loath to face death.
