Fear of the Unknown

       A crack in the pavement
          Does it portend
       a death in the family
          an untimely end  

       Is it an opening
          for widow’s weeds 
       or just a spittoon
          for sunflower seeds

That's such an awful thought, isn't it. It must be culled from those awful British nursery rhymes like Humpty Dumpty, Jack & Jill, and all the others that speak of injury and pain!

Valsa George August 6, 2024 at 10:53 PM A crack in the pavement may be because of a number of reasons. It needn't evoke serious fears in us.
