FOMO stands for Fear Of Missing Out. Social media sites create many opportunities for FOMO. Smartphones and other mobile devices enable people to remain in contact with their social and professional network continuously. This may result in compulsive checking for status updates and messages, for fear of missing out on an opportunity.
"The Name Game" is a song co-written and performed by Shirley Ellis (over 60 years ago--yikes!) as a rhyming game that creates variations on a person's name.

can’t seem to shut it down
no strength to stay away
when I try hard to back down
fear of missing out holds sway
FOMO, FOMO, FOMO
keeps driving me insane
try to minimize its hold by
playing silly name games—
FOMO FOMO bo-bomo
Bonana-fanna fo-omo
Fe fi mo-momo
FOMO
started as a simple quirk
too far gone to troubleshoot
I can’t concentrate on work
stalled life needs a hard reboot
FOMO, FOMO, FOMO
keeps driving me insane
try to minimize its hold by
playing silly name games—
FOMO FOMO bo-bomo
Bonana-fanna fo-omo
Fe fi mo-momo
FOMO
got a deadline from my boss
told to get it done by noon
but he'll have to take a loss
FOMO rules and I'm a loon!
FOMO, FOMO, FOMO
keeps driving me insane
try to minimize its hold by
playing silly name games—

need to muster up willpower—
first I better check the app
it will only take a min… hour?
after that I’ll need a nap
