Fear In a Jar
I can't sleep
Once again
Tossing and turning till dawn
With my covers pulled up
Around my chin
Hoping to outlast my own demons
A simple victim of
Overzealous puritan madness
I think out loud as I'm
Losing all rational thought
As I glance at the blinking red light
Of reality
Nothing but a
Mess of tangled nerves
Great big knots of self doubt
Lodge in my world
Reaching in blind devotion for
The little round gods of tranquillity
That soothes the spirit and kills the soul
A promise filled with lies
