Fear
A primal, survival tactic,
fear, fastens itself to your soul.
It's a psychological state
that levies a personal toll.
Harassed by constant bullying,
timidity fuels despair.
And as you break into a sweat,
Life appears cruel and unfair.
Hearing your pulse pound in your ears,
your fear's difficult to conceal.
For in this vulnerable state,
Reality seems surreal.
People label you a coward,
abandoning you to your shame.
And there's no shelter found in age:
nor in status, money, or fame.
Your life is a living nightmare,
always on the verge of a tear.
And because you're ashamed of it:
anxiety morphs into fear.
