Fear

Fear I don’t fear getting older, I fear losing grace. I fear for the day, That I can be replaced. I fear of another, I fear losing time. I fear for the hour, When you will not be mine. I fear of being lonely, I fear an empty house. I fear for the year, Of just me and my spouse. I fear like all other fathers, When their sons go away, And make life on their own, On some distant bay. I fear for the quietness, Of a once busy little boy, Whom I could watch for hours, Playing with a toy. I fear for your mom and I, When that time finally arrives. When there’s no little child, To fulfill our daily lives. I don’t fear getting older, I fear losing grace. I fear for the day, When I will be replaced.
