Fathom

I am the deep blue of the deep blue --
I dance outwardly,
crashing white frothy spirals on the shoreline
bringing life
and death.

I hold in abeyance
the fish in the sea,
the coral, fauna
and the mighty Leviathan.

They come and go at my bidding
to take or be taken,
to feed or be fed upon;
as is my deep blue whimsy.

I exhale and send treasures
onto the sand
with shining abundance
to be found by explorers on my shores.

I inhale and take back what I've given,
burying deep beneath trenches
my treasures
to be found by explorers of the deep.

Like stars in the heaven,
I will be here to time indefinite
to live forever with only the ebb and flow --
the fish, coral, fauna,
and of course the great Leviathan.

Wow! Amazingly penned... sounds like I'd like to be the flow of this verse. Infinity of the deep. Shaunda, I'm so glad to hear from you today. One day, I wish to write a poem and relate it to the Fathom of this poem. I stink at writing right now. But, somehow this one inspired a thought... lol...probably fade in the next minute. Anyways thanks. Linda

Thank you so much.My father gave me the gift of writing just as yours did. I wrote my first poem while hiding from my father in my bedroom closet when I was 9 or 10 and I've never stopped. What you wrote gives me a glimpse of what a normal father daughter relationship could be . It's something I've only read about in books and seen in movies.. Crazy huh. Thank you again
